The Jaguar Mk 2 was produced for 8 years, from late 1959 to 1967.
It was the evolution of the first Mark 1 series, and was available with 2.4L, 3.4L and 3.8L engines.
From an aesthetic and functional point of view, the major innovations concerned the interior, the new dashboard with the repositioning of the main instruments in front of the driver.
The central dashboard featured a more rational black panel with four auxiliary instruments and a row of switches. Immediately below there was a tunnel where the radio and loudspeaker were housed. Among the innovations introduced in the interior of the Jaguar Mark 2 include the standard leather upholstery, the raised front seats to offer more space for the passengers’ feet, the tables on the back of the seats, a heating vent between the rear seats, the interior lighting in the glove compartment, illuminated cigarette lighter and brake-fluid level indicator.
The car had standard disc brakes on both axles, while the version with the 3.8L engine had the LSD limited slip differential. Power steering, electric overdrive from Laycock de Normanville combined with manual gearbox or alternatively automatic gearbox were available on request.
