Vehicle description

We are faced with an absolute automotive icon.

The car was built in 1953 and then firstly imported to the USA, subsequently in 1987 it was purchased and imported to Italy, since that moment the car has had a single owner; in following years the latter carried out a meticulous restoration of the car to preserve authenticity and originality in every single part.

The car is in very good condition, the primrose yellow bodywork and the chrome have been perfectly restored, in a similar way the interior, has undergone a conservative restoration to preserve its originality; all the work carried out on the car have been extensively documented and can be viewed.

From a mechanical point of view, the powerful six-cylinder in-line engine, the four-speed gearbox with precise engagements and the solidity of the chassis are able to make anyone who has the pleasure of sitting behind the wheel feel like a true gentleman driver.

The car can be viewed exclusively by appointment in our site. Thanks to our technical assistance and restoration workshop it is possible to inspect it with our professionals, who will be able to provide any technical details.

Historical notes

The XK120 was presented in roadster configuration during the London Motor Show on 27 October 1948 as a test vehicle. However, the model aroused a lot of interest and positive comments, which convinced William Lyons to mass produce it.

The “120” in the model name referred to the 120 mph (193 km/h) top speed achieved with the windscreen installed, making the XK120 the fastest standard production car in the world at the time of its launch.

It was available in two open versions, roadster and cabriolet, as well as a coupé. The cabriolet and coupé had a wood dashboard. An interesting design detail is the handle for opening the doors made with a leather strap.

The roadster version was used for years in the most famous competitions of the time, achieving great success.

The 6-cylinder in-line engine, combined with refined aerodynamics, guaranteed excellent performance for the time. The magazine The Motor and Jaguar itself demonstrated this obtaining excellent results: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds and top speed well over 210 km/h.
